THE ALLIANCE SUPPORTING BELFAST TELEGRAPH STRUCK DUMB.
The results of the BBC opinion polls, with regard to the overwhelming support for the Union and for the all year flying of the National Standard, on Belfast City Hall, was so news worthy that it was even commented on by the Prime minister at Westminster. It was the banner headline in the Belfast Newsletter, it was the constantly repeated all day long leading news report on both the BBC and UTV.
It was completely ignored by the Alliance Party supporting Belfast Telegraph. Since the start of the National Standard dispute, the Belfast Telegraph has repeatedly printed deliberately misleading and dishonest headlines and articles, with regard to the amount of support within the general population for the defenders of the National Standard and with regard to the actual numbers taking part in the protests. This totally biased Alliance supporting news rag, even went as far as printing a banner headline stating, “WE ARE ALL VOTING ALLIANCE”, shortly after the Alliance Party had colluded with the IRA representatives, and SDLP Councillors on Belfast City Council, to ignore the overwhelming results of the Public Consultation, in favour of the status quo with regard to the flying of the National Standard. This news rag which has always relied on the Loyalist working class for its existence in the past, now treats the Loyalist working class as an underclass whose opinion is not worthy of consideration. In recent years it has been bending over backwards, in its failed attempts to attract a republican/nationalist readership via its extended coverage of the GAA, its anti Israel comments from McCann and its unquestioning bended knee approach to the IRA terrorists at Stormont.
The vast bulk of the Belfast Telegraphs income comes the Loyalist Working Class, via readership and the reams and reams of expensive insertions placed in the deaths and sympathies section, by Working Class Loyalists. I for one will be no longer helping to pay for the upkeep of this Alliance supporting, anti Loyalist Working Class rag.
