Action for Community Transformation – ACT Initiative – ‘Feet on the Street’ Project

Members of Ballymacarett Somme Association, in partnership with the East Belfast ACT Area Action Group, participated in a sponsored walk from Pitt Park to the grounds of Stormont on Saturday 29th June, 2012.  The project was to raise funds for the Ballymacarrett Women’s Group and their forthcoming children’s party and cultural day on July 11th for children living on the Interface.  Jim Wilson, chairman of Ballymacarrett Somme Association stated; “we have a long record of attempting to help community initiatives when we can and on this occasion our members have excelled by raising £1000 for the kids in the area”.  This partnership work consolidates our commitment  in ‘reaching out’ to the local communities and, once again, shows our efforts in working positively at grassroots level for the good of the community.  The ACT Initiative continues to play a meaningful role in the transformation of our members and the development of working-class communities.
