DC Comics, formed in 1934, and responsible for a lot of ‘Super-Hero’ and ‘Evil-Baddie’ characters, including –Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Lex Luther, The Penguin, etc. has announced that one of it’s ‘Super-Heroes’ is gay and will be ‘Outed’ soon. This has caused out-rage in certain quarters of the ‘good old U S of A’. ‘One Million Moms’, a US Christian Group has called on DC Comics to change their minds immediately with regards this decision. That is a really a lot of people to piss off! Apparently the smart money is on either Batman or Wonder Woman. Makes you wonder (pun intended) what will be the most popular costume at the ‘Gay Pride’ parade next year. I may fly down for a wee look!

A Parliamentary report just released has brought into the spotlight what they call ‘Appearance Based Discrimination’ and the possibility of legislation to outlaw this practice. I, for one, would welcome this. I’m sick and tired of being called ‘A Fat B……d’!

Most young people from working-class Protestant areas have, I’m sure, collected wood for the Bonfire in the months leading up to the 11th night. It used to be that the young people had ownership of this wood and only allowed adult intervention on the 11th night itself. Apparently that has changed. The Sunday ‘Rag’ had a story this week about a ‘UDA’ bonfire being burned – it must have been a quiet week for Jim McGuiness, sorry McDowell! – anyway, it reminded me of a conversation I had with a guy from my estate who admitted to me that he sold ‘Blow’ – ‘only to adults’ he said. I informed him that a large share of all sales from ‘Blow’ around the country was ending up in the pockets of Republicans – his reply to me was ‘This is Prod Blow’ – true story!

Speaking of money and deep pockets – Tory Peer, Baroness Warsi, has been caught out claiming a Parliamentary accommodation allowance of £165.50 a day, whilst staying in a £75 a day dwelling. How disgusting are these people? Pensioners don’t get anything close to this top rate but it seems that doesn’t mean a thing.

England’s latest football match at the ‘New Wembley’ had David Bernstein meeting both teams and officials and I couldn’t help but wonder if there are football people around the country who are more deserving of this ritual. Surely there are people who have worked tirelessly for years in local football – unpaid, who are more deserving?

Mark Dooley in his MailOnline piece, analysing Ireland’s yes vote on the European Fiscal Stability Treaty, says ‘Ireland’s only hope now is for the Euro to fail’. It seems to me that plunging the World economy into crisis to save Ireland isn’t really an option Mark! Far better, I think, that they consider joining the ‘Pound’, rejoining the Commonwealth and moving away from the paedophile-infested Roman Catholic Church. Not that would be a better option!

THIS WEEK IN THE PAPERS 8 I came across a story this week which, once again, had me thinking about the benefits of living in this ‘wee’ Country as opposed to somewhere else.
