Sixties Soliloquy

SIXTIES SOLILOQUY

On a marvellous night for Moondance
 Twiggy stole our hearts
MLK had an impossible dream
JFK’s was blasted apart

The Moptops ruled the changing world
Bigger than Jesus- John declared
Dubcek introduced Spring to Prague
In Nam-Sam was running scared

Bob plugged in at Newport
All over now for Baby Blue
Newman showed us his Cool Hand
The Daleks came for Doctor Who

Skirts rose up in Carnaby Street
Flowers rained down in Frisco Bay
Ali stripped of his rightful Crown
Norma Jean left the stage

Three brave men–One giant step
A Leap of Faith from Billy G
Dancing feet of a Belfast Boy
Entrancing prose from Harper Lee

Tommy Smith’s fist raised high
Pollution on the Scilly Isles
Half a million at Yeagers Farm
Townsend seen for miles and miles.

Barnard replaced a human heart
Walt decided to depart
Napoleon Solo—And Get Smart
And warring Celts about to start

Johnny Seven-Mister Ed
Fireball X L 5
Wilma Barney Betty Fred
Lights went out on Cielo Drive.
